EQUALITY AND EQUITY FOR ALL GENDERS
Overview of our work

Post disaster assistance for people
KnK Japan is committed to fostering gender-inclusive sustainable communities, prioritizing disaster-affected individuals. Through targeted programs emphasizing infrastructure, inclusivity, and community resilience, the organization provides comprehensive recovery support. Tailoring assistance to diverse genders, KnK Japan guides individuals through trauma associated with disasters. Essential services include Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, Menstrual Hygiene Management, and initiatives in hygiene, health, and nutrition. This gender-sensitive approach enhances overall well-being, empowerment, and community resilience, contributing to a sustainable and inclusive recovery process.

Mentorship to those in need
KnK Japan aims to bridge the gaps between different social groups, promoting inclusivity, and creating opportunities for all individuals to thrive. The emergency response program recognizes the intersectionality of various inequalities and prioritizes assistance for those most affected.

Gender-Responsive Programs
KnK Japan ensures that all initiatives are designed with a gender-sensitive approach, integrating specific components to address the unique needs of girls in education and community settings. These programs prioritize creating safe spaces and fostering an inclusive environment for girls to thrive.

Life Skills for Girls
The project includes life skills training for girls, focusing on critical areas such as communication, interpersonal skills, logical and critical thinking, hygiene education, health management, and preparedness to prevent and address gender sensitive issues. These trainings are conducted through student clubs, encouraging girls to take active roles in their personal and community development.

Community Advocacy
Advocacy activities involve the formation of groups at the community level, comprising social workers, local government officials, and community members. These groups conduct workshops and awareness sessions to promote understanding of girls' education and the harmful impacts of cultural norms, including early and forced marriages.

Promoting Inclusive Education by Addressing Cultural Barriers
The project champions girls’ education by positively engaging with cultural norms that may limit their learning opportunities. Through supportive mentorship sessions, girls are empowered to pursue their aspirations with confidence. Referral pathways and collaboration with human rights and welfare organizations further ensure that girls receive the encouragement and support they need to thrive. This inclusive approach nurtures an environment where every girl is inspired and enabled to continue her education.

The organization has implemented programs aimed at constructing and improving school facilities, training teachers, and introducing ICT and life skills to girl students. The programs also aim to facilitate girls’ attendance by strengthening cooperation among communities, district education departments, and the provincial government.
