KnK Japan, PEC and NDRMF Forge Strategic Partnership for Climate-Resilient Infrastructure

Kokkyo naki Kodomotachi (KnK) Japan – Pakistan Office is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) under the Capacity Development for Climate-Resilient Infrastructure (CD-CRI) initiative.
This partnership brings together technical, institutional and implementation expertise to support the development of a standardized Structural Health Assessment (SHA) framework for public buildings in Pakistan, together with a Digital SHA tool designed to improve screening, documentation and referral processes.
Through this collaboration, the partners aim to strengthen the country's capacity to assess risks in schools, health facilities and other public infrastructure exposed to climate-related hazards. The initiative is expected to contribute to safer buildings, better-informed rehabilitation and retrofit decisions, and stronger resilience planning.
KnK Japan values the leadership and technical cooperation of PEC and NDRMF in advancing a system that can support both current risk screening needs and longer-term institutional ownership. This partnership represents an important step toward practical, scalable and nationally relevant climate-resilient infrastructure solutions in Pakistan.
